Arasan, a leading provider of IP semiconductors for all things mobile, including automobiles, announces its 2nd generation of CAN IP
SAN JOSE, CA., May 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Arasan announces the immediate availability of its 2nd generation of CAN IP for CAN 2.0 and CAN FD specifications. The controllers have been redesigned and upgraded to reduce power consumption and area, making them suitable for FPGA applications in addition to Arasan’s core ASIC IP market. Although automobiles do not have stringent power requirements like mobile phones, Arasan’s power-saving techniques implemented on these controllers help save battery power on which automobiles also matter. The use of FPGAs is widespread in the automotive and industrial sectors, so area optimization was another criteria that was set for these next-generation controllers.
The 2 of Arasann/a Gen CAN IP the controller core performs serial communication according to CAN2.0 and CAN FD specifications. It supports CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B protocols, TT-CAN, CAN-FD (ISO 11898-1.2015, plus earlier ISO and non-ISO specifications from Bosch). It is fully programmable up to 1 Mbps for CAN 2.0 and multiple devices. Our 2nd generation CAN IP is designed to increase reliability, speed up error reporting, has an advanced error handling unit, prevents data loss during transmission, and prevents message collisions.
The 2 of Arasann/a Gen CAN IP controller cores can be easily integrated with the host processor using standard AMBA AHB/AXI interfaces. Our highly configurable controller core supports programmable interrupts, data and baud rates, accept filters, and flexible buffering schemes, allowing it to be tailored to the specific needs of the application.
The 2 of Arasann/a Gen CAN IP is 100% architected and designed by Arasan’s in-house team with direct technical support from the designers. In addition, the IP was designed in the UNITED STATES allowing us to support projects requiring US security clearance for support personnel. The defense and aerospace industries, in addition to automotive, are a major target market for Arasan’s fault tolerance. CAN IP.
from Arsan CAN IP has passed compliance by multiple licensees and ASIL requirements.
